Jordan Alyson Conner -

Last night was so much fun they we're awesome we cant wait to see them play again soon!

Connor -

Did they win? Who'd they beat?

John Greenan -

Yeah we were one of the 2 bands out of 6 picked to go on to the provincials at the Delta on Feb.22.

Jordan Morrison -

connor how come you didnt go?

John Greenan -

Let me rephrase my post since I used poor punctuation and we can't edit them, out of the 7 bands last night we were one of the 2 picked to continue to the provincials.

Jeff McGuigan -

POOR GRAMMAR x2!

It should read; "Let me rephrase my last post, since I cannot edit my poor punctuation. Out of the seven bands the played last night, we were selected as one of the two to continue on to the provincials at Delta, February 22nd.

Remember:
- Avoid run-on sentences. Use a period to seperate different ideas(a semicolon could also be used in such a situation, followed by a conjunction(also, consequently, furthermore, however, moreover, nevertheless, and therefore)).
- When writing out numbers smaller than nine(9), it is proper to spell out the word, rather than just the number.
- Make sure you specify, avoid the use of vague words such as "them", "she/he", or "they".

Tune in next week, when we explore the wonders of parenthases

Kyle Smith -

POOR GRAMMER x3!

Now Jeff, really it should read; "Let me rephrase my last post, since I cannot edit my poor punctuation. Out of the seven bands that played last night, we were selected as one of the two to continue on to the provincials at Delta, February 22nd"

Remember:
-Always insure you use the proper spelling on all words, even though the word may be as simple as 'that'.
-If you open qoutations, remember to close them. They don't close themselves.

Jeff, I can hardly wait for next weeks lesson.

Jeff McGuigan -

POOR GRAMMAR x4

Now, Kyle. It should read;
'POOR GRAMMAR x3!

Now, Jeff. Really it should read; "Let me rephrase my last post, since I cannot edit my poor punctuation. Out of the seven bands that played last night, we were selected as one of the two to continue on to the provincials at the Delta, February 22nd"

Remember:
-Always insure you use the proper spelling on all words, even though the word may be as simple as 'that'.
-If you open a quotation, remember to close it, they don't close by themself.'

Be aware of when and when not to use a period or comma; to comma sentence splices use semi-colons(;).

sarah -

what other band was picked to go on?

awesome job guys!

Jeff McGuigan -

Okay. So I got excited, and technically it is next week. The other day Jeff had a few questions about the IE rule.

Well, Jeff. You see, 'I' before 'E', except after c. Or when sounded like ay; As in neighbor and weigh.

This is a good rule to remember, but there are even more exceptions than those noted in the rhyme. Among them:

* caffeine
* counterfeit
* either
* forfeit
* surfeit
* neither
* foreign
* sovereign
* heifer
* heir
* leisure
* protein
* seize
* sheik (which is, however, pronounced like shake by some speakers)
* their
* veil
* weird

It' best just to commit these weird words to memory.

Chris -

Wow... you guys never cease to amaze me!

Jeff MacKenzie -

Thanks, Jeff. I still think it's a pretty crappy rule though, seeing as there is so many exceptions. It's more of a guildline I guess..
