Hey Solid Rockers!
How's your summer going? Tell us what you're doing and tell us your best summer story. (we should give a fabulous prize for the best summer story...maybe a PEI Dirt Shirt)
The crew that went to Tidal Impact did an awesome job in New Minas Nova Scotia! They painted, and painted, and painted, they went to the Wolfville Nursing Home for some great times and wild games with the residents (watch out for the pincher!) The weather was wicked hot, the teams worked great together, the rally's at night we're awesome (and hot!) We even did a car wash/massive water fight, picked up garbage and made a very cool exploding pop fountain with Diet Coke and Mentos (Dennis' idea...we even have the video to prove it) We'll be posting our pictures on the gallery soon.
This saturday (July 29)our next work/ministry crew heads off to Bridgeton New Jersey for a week of building projects in the very poor section of the city. Pray for us as we travel, meet lots of new folks and do some great things. We'll be joining 400 other teenagers and staying together at the local high school (imagine sleeping for six nights in your Math class!) and every member of the Solid Rock Youth will be with a group that they don't know. It should be very interesting!
On August 11 the Newfoundland Hiking crew heads away by van, and ferry to the Blow Me Down Mountains (sounds fun!) for a week of very exciting and very isolated hiking. Pray for this group as they hike, make food, and cry for their mommas at night (maybe not cry out loud anyway). It will be a once in a life time adventure, so have a great time guys.
Also don't forget our Solid Rockers Kyle Smith who leaves for Switzerland on August 4 and Jeff McGuigan who leaves for Japan on August 21. We'll miss you guys, have an awesome time and let us know where we can log on to see what you're doing. (bring us all back some food!)
So...what have you been up to? Give us a post and let us know! Until then I hope to see you all soon either on the street or back in the cafe!

Hey there Solid Rock Youth,
I am from Saratoga New York in the States. I have family up in Tignish PEI and also other parts of PEI. I heard of your youth group while on my church's mission trip to Sutton, New Hampshire (same week you were in NJ.) Someone apparently wrote an email to you labled only Solid Rock Youth, PEI in the address. It was delivered to Sutton NH. When I saw the addressee I asked our office person if we had a PEI group with us and she said we did not. So, when I got home I looked you up on the Yahoo search.
You all really had a long travel to New Jersey. You are approximately 16 hours from us and NJ is farther south than we are. I hope you all had a safe trip down here. Also was this your first mission trip? This was our third. I took 11 youth and one other adult plus our Pastor went. We are ready to plan next year already.
My very next trip is this Friday, August 11th. My family is leaving NY for a 12 day vacation on PEI. We will be staying at the Gulfside Campground near Anglo, PEI. My family up there attends the Palmer Road Picnic each year and this will be our first visit during the picnic weekend. I love visiting the island. The only thing I do miss is the boat ride. Went across that every other year as a child.
Well, if your group is planning another trip next year on a Group Workcamp, maybe you could let me know of your location. Who knows, we may just end up at the same camp.
God be with all of you!

Hey there Vickie,
It's funny how things work out, and we're glad you ended up getting our e-mail. (another one from Dennis found it's way to us)
We had an awesome week in NJ!! It was our first Workcamp and one of the best things we've ever been involved with. We're signed up for next year at Hookset Falls(?) NY.
We're so glad our e-mail found someone with an Island connection. Have a great vacation on the Island and if you ever get into Charlottetown look us up at First Baptist (628-2111). Thanx for the e-mail and the encouragement!

Hey Chris,
Remember me? I am the Hershey Captain, Andy Saunders. We roomed with you guys from at workcamp. Have you been able to catch up on your rest from work camp? I think I have. But I am looking forward to our family vacation at Rehobeth Beach first week in Sept. But I have a lot to do before then getting ready for the school year, and budget times. Our new sr. pastor is pushing for us to do our budget a lot earlier this year, which is good but more work too. Well God bless you man!

Yo Andy!
Good hearing from you buddy! We sure missed the Hershey boys on our last night. We actually had to get in our sleeping bags it was so cold (only 85 in the room, it felt like air conditioning and Justin almost froze!)
All of the rest of you reading this site should know that Andy and I (and our groups) tried our very best to make the Diet Coke/Mentos Rocket work. Actually we tried about ten times with not much suceess. (one bottle went flying but the rest of them just kind of sprayed all over us!)
Say hello to rest of your group for us, have a good vacation, and make sure you make it to the national youth workers convention.
Also just to let you know the Canadians are signed up for Hoosic Falls New York next summer. Let's have an Island/Hershey reunion and we'll bring tons of Diet Coke and mentos!!
God bless ya brother!
