Just a quick note to let everyone know that we've added some pictures from the trip to Bridgeton New Jersey, for the Group Workcamp. Looks like our crew had a great time, and did a whole lot of work for some people who appreciated it very much! I'm sure we'll hear some great stories once we get back to our regular Solid Rock schedule for the fall.

Until then, check out the gallery for some great pictures!
We have conquered the final frontier. We have stood on the heights of the land! We have conquered rivers of great depth and speed! ARGHHH!!!(manly noise)
The crew is back from Newfoundland and we had an awesome time. If you want to check out the photos they're up in the gallery. Check them out!

Hey there Solid Rockers!
Hope you're having an awesome summer! The Group Workcamp crew is back from an awesome week in Bridgeton New Jersey. Despite record heat, drinking 20 bottles of water a day, and one really crowded van we had an amazing week, and completed 54 projects for the needy of that town.
320 teenagers from all over the US, Korea and Canada (we were the only Canadians) joined together to make it all happen. It was a real life/faith building time that we'll never forget. Pictures from the trip will be on the gallery very soon.
Even as I write this we have a hiking group in Newfoundland being bravely led by Dan, Shawn and Dieter. They will have lots of stories (and not much food left) when they get back next week.
Tonight (Aug.15) there is a Sr. High girls night at the Austins (12 Wendy Dr) Whatever is happening gets going at 8 and goes until everyone is worn out. Give us a call if you need directions or more information (367-9378). I'll be up in my room watching a manly movie.
Keep having a great summer, and drop me a line or better yet drop by the church for a visit.
Greetings members of the Solid Rock Youth group.
Whats up? Whats new? How's it going?
I'm good. Though i have had too much coffee today, and my hand wont stop shaking..
But anyways..

Hey Solid Rockers!
How's your summer going? Tell us what you're doing and tell us your best summer story. (we should give a fabulous prize for the best summer story...maybe a PEI Dirt Shirt)
The crew that went to Tidal Impact did an awesome job in New Minas Nova Scotia! They painted, and painted, and painted, they went to the Wolfville Nursing Home for some great times and wild games with the residents (watch out for the pincher!) The weather was wicked hot, the teams worked great together, the rally's at night we're awesome (and hot!) We even did a car wash/massive water fight, picked up garbage and made a very cool exploding pop fountain with Diet Coke and Mentos (Dennis' idea...we even have the video to prove it) We'll be posting our pictures on the gallery soon.
This saturday (July 29)our next work/ministry crew heads off to Bridgeton New Jersey for a week of building projects in the very poor section of the city. Pray for us as we travel, meet lots of new folks and do some great things. We'll be joining 400 other teenagers and staying together at the local high school (imagine sleeping for six nights in your Math class!) and every member of the Solid Rock Youth will be with a group that they don't know. It should be very interesting!
On August 11 the Newfoundland Hiking crew heads away by van, and ferry to the Blow Me Down Mountains (sounds fun!) for a week of very exciting and very isolated hiking. Pray for this group as they hike, make food, and cry for their mommas at night (maybe not cry out loud anyway). It will be a once in a life time adventure, so have a great time guys.
Also don't forget our Solid Rockers Kyle Smith who leaves for Switzerland on August 4 and Jeff McGuigan who leaves for Japan on August 21. We'll miss you guys, have an awesome time and let us know where we can log on to see what you're doing. (bring us all back some food!)
So...what have you been up to? Give us a post and let us know! Until then I hope to see you all soon either on the street or back in the cafe!
The Jr. High Challenge trip to Cape Breton has been cancelled this summer. We've had a few youth who couldn't attend the trip and it makes the numbers too small to make the trip work.
We're so sorry for the rest of the group. We hope to do a Jr. High day this summer at our new water park so stay tuned for more details.
This Wednesday night the SRY is all about the grade 12 students who are soon to be making their way into a world without high school. It will be an evening of sharing and caring as we sit around the fire, tell stories, and watch the world go by (hey... that sounds like what old folks do!)
Grade 12s are to meet at the church no later than 5:30 (we've got deadlines to meet!) and we'll be back to the church by 10pm. Dress very warm (where's those parkas?) and make sure to post or call me if you are able to go.
For all the rest of you Solid Rockers thanx for an awesome year, and stay tuned to the website for details about our summer stuff and what's happening in September!
We're sorry to announce that Rockstock is cancelled.
It has become too difficult to make the event happen with so much going on these past couple of weeks and not having the numbers of people attending that we would like. (although it was close)
It was a difficult decision to make and I'm sorry for any hastle it creates.
Hey there Solid Rockers! What an amazing week its been! We've experienced amazing highs and huge lows all within one week.
Souled Out went great and we appreciate everyones help! You guys did a great job. Everything from playing music, to serving food, to keeping everyone as happy as possible to lugging tons of gear morning and night. Thank-you so much and please let us know what you thought about the day and what we need to do to make it better.
This Wednesday night we're back in the Cafe for the final meeting of the season. It's our time to look back on the year we've had (we've done alot of stuff!), and look foward to next fall. It's gonna be alot of fun with some serious moments thrown in as well.
On Friday we're hoping to have our Rockstock weekend but I need your help in order to make it happen. As you know it's been a real busy last few weeks and we've also experienced some real sadness with the death of Shawn Smith (Kyle and Emily's father). It's taken alot out of us all and we want to make sure that Rockstock is going to have a great number of Solid Rockers able to attend. If there is not a strong interest in it then we'll have to cancel it for this year.
Rockstock is scheduled to take place this Friday (6pm) to Saturday (4pm). I need you to let me know if you are able to attend by posting a response on this website. I'll be asking about it this Wednesday and we'll let you know if we are able to go forward with Rockstock then. I really appreciate your help by letting me know if you are able to attend and I appreciate any thoughts you have about it.
Thanx everyone, keep the Smiths in your prayers and see ya on Wednesday!
