The Sr. High Challenge (Grades 9-12) Trip to New Hampshire and Maine needs a few more people (4 to be exact) in order for this trip to take place. We need a group of at least eight youth. If we don't get the number we need we'll place the trip into next summer's schedule.

Please contact SRY leaders Chris, David or Stephen if you are planing to go or just post a reply to this. We need a reply in one week. Thanx!
This is going to be one awesome month of Solid Rock. Hang on to your dress pants (in honour of Garrett) it's gonna to be a wild ride! Some highlights for the month are:
May 3: Rake & Run. Bring your leaf rake, your work gloves and be at the church by 7pm as we're going to help some needy people get their leaves raked up. All of us can do alot of good!
May 10: Being a Christian "Disturber". It's a great teaching night on some amazing people who disturbed their world and brought about amazing changes. It's also a night where we're welcoming youth in grade six to come up for the night and check out what happens in the SRY (be nice!)
May 12: The last Solid Rock Cafe of the season brought to you by your Banana Productions friends. It's gonna be a must attend cafe with tons of extras and the very best musical talent from the year that was. Stay tuned for the complete details and musical guests.
May 27: Souled Out at the Civic Center. Our fourth, and what will be our very best Souled Out yet. Awesome new games (human foosball, toilet seat racing, iron man challenge), great local music at the band showcase, lots of food and an evening concert by Ninth Hour and The Silent will make this an event that you and your friends will have alot of fun at. We're also having our ticket competition again where you could win one of two iPod Shuffles. Check out www.souledout.ca
This week's random trivia takes a walk on the wild side, and takes a closer look at the creatures we share the planet with.
Speaking of animals, last week's winners were Jordan & David, Emma Stewart and Melanie Johnston. This week's winners...who knows...it might even be you! On to the questions:
According to zookeepers, the most dangerous animal in the zoo to handle is: 1. Elephant 2. Panda 3. Gorilla
Which common house pet can run the fastest (indoors)
1. Ferret 2. Cat 3. Lizard
What can go longer without water, a rat, or a camel?
This country eats more frogs for meals than any other country on earth.
1. France 2. China 3. India
On average, elephants sleep this many hours per night. (it's why they're so smart)
1. 3 2. 6 3. 9
We will have Souled Out tickets available tomorrow night in the Cafe. Tickets are just $10 and this covers you for the entire day of activities (all sorts of amazing games, the Band Showcase, and the evening concert with Ninth Hour and The Silent.) Souled Out happens on Saturday May 27.
We're also having a repeat of our ticket contest for just the Solid Rock Youth. You'll have two ways of winning an iPod Shuffle. For every five tickets you sell you get your name in a draw, and there will also be an automatic win for the person who sells the most tickets.
Even better than any prize is the chance for your friends to come to Souled Out, have an awesome time and hear God's truth through some great music. It's alot of fun and we want as many people there as possible. Karen and Kathy are heading up the ticket contest so see them with any questions!
Hey there Solid Rockers! It's a busy week so hang on, hang out, and see ya in the Cafe.
This Wednesday we're having International Night as we travel the "world", sample some food, play some games, and listen to an amazing story of one family's journey to Canada. Don't miss it, it's going to be a fun and inspiring night. All international flights depart at 7pm...don't be late!
All deposits for our summer trips are due this Wednesday. The time has finally come for you to decide which trip (or trips) you're going to. There is still space in all the trips except the Group Workcamp. Some trips will need a few more people (Jr. & Sr. High Challenges both need 8 youth) if they are going to happen. So bring in your deposit and get signed-up!
Also the Solid Rock Cafe is set to go this Friday night from 6-12 and it's the second last Cafe of what has been a great season. Great music, and of course world famous trivia. Last Cafe is May 12 so get your smoothies before they take a summer break!
A new day, a new week and a new chance to be this week's random trivia winner. Last week's winner was Melissa Harwood who now gets a ton of respect from everyone!
This week's random trivia is all about percentages, like how may people brush their teeth and look at themself in the mirror at the same time (it's 40%.... or 4 out of 10 people)
This week you must match the percentage with the sentence that goes with it. The percentages are 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50%. There is a percentage for each sentence so use all five of them. Best wishes!
___% of McDonald's total profit comes from the sale of Happy Meals
___% of North Americans who say they've seen a ghost!
___% of forest fires that are started by lightning
___% of a cat's waking hours spent grooming itself (yuck!)
___% of North American Potatoes that get turned into French Fries (yum!)
Last night in the Solid Rock Youth we announced that we are having another competition within the group to encourage you all to get your friends going to Souled Out (check out all the Souled Out info on this website)
This is how it works: For every five tickets you sell ($10/ticket) you get your name placed in a draw for an iPod Shuffle. There will also be a similar prize for the person who sells the most tickets over-all. Both prizes will be given out on Wednesday May 24 in the Solid Rock Youth.
Souled Out is the largest youth event on the Island and every year you guys make the whole cool thing work. Please get out there and get your friends interested in Souled Out. This year we'll have the best afternoon events (games, new very cool inflatables, and the awesome Band Showcase) going on as well as two great bands in the evening (Ninth Hour and The Silent). It's gonna be the best Souled Out yet so please help us make it happen!
Tickets will be available next week in the Solid Rock Youth.
Teacher Jayne is taking a tanning course in Cuba this week so there won't be any tutoring tonight. ("rejoice with those who rejoice!")
Let's all feel sorry for Jamie & Jayne who have to sit on a beach all this week while our world gets washed away!
Hey there Solid Rockers! As you may have noticed it has been raining for a few days now and we're going to have to change the date of our Rake & Run until May 3.
So this week in the SRY we're having a Random Games night in the cafe with all the best in games, trivia and a movie. It's going to be pretty laid-back time so bring along your friends and enjoy a break this Wednesday night. As always there will be fabulous prizes for teams that do well in the different game "areas" that we are going to set up.
Those going to Spring Forth need to bring along your money and your registration form for the trip. What is Spring Forth? Check out our website and get all the info. There are still two seats left on the van so get moving people!
All summer trips need the deposits in by next Wed. April 26. There is still room in both the Jr. High trips but there is only one Sr. High trip that has room left. The Sr. High Challenge of hiking and white-water rafting (for grades 9-12) still has room so get those deposits in, and get your space saved! (all info about these trips are also on our website)
Update: There are two spots left on the SRY Wilderness Adventure.
See ya'll tomorrow night in the Cafe!
